Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Toppings of your choice (cinnamon sugar, Nutella, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, etc.)
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in sugar, vegetable oil, and salt.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down dough and divide into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into an oval, resembling a beaver’s tail.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry Beaver Tails, a few at a time, until golden brown on both sides, about 1-2 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- While still warm, coat Beaver Tails with your choice of toppings.
- Serve and enjoy!
