- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
3. Cream Butter and Sugar:
- In a large bowl or mixer, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This may take about 3-5 minutes.
4. Add Eggs and Vanilla:
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
5. Alternate Dry Ingredients and Milk:
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
6. Bake:
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
7. Frost and Decorate (Optional):
- Once the cakes are completely cooled, you can frost and decorate them as desired. Use your favorite frosting, such as vanilla buttercream, cream cheese frosting, or chocolate ganache.
8. Serve:
- Slice and serve the vanilla cake. It’s delicious on its own or paired with fruits, whipped cream, or other toppings.
This vanilla cake is versatile and can be used for birthdays, celebrations, or as a delightful treat any day. Feel free to get creative with the frosting and decorations to suit your taste.
