Ingredients:
For the Cake:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs

- 1 cup mulled red wine (cooled to room temperature)

- 1 bottle red wine
- 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1 orange, zest and juice
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3-4 whole cloves
- 2-3 star anise
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons mulled wine (strained from the spices)
Instructions:
Mulled Wine:
- In a saucepan, combine the red wine, honey or maple syrup, orange zest, orange juice, cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise.
- Heat the mixture over low to medium heat, bringing it to a simmer. Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes to infuse the flavors.
- Strain the mulled wine, discarding the spices, and let it cool to room temperature.
Cake:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
