Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
- 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
For the Filling:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
For the Dough:
- Activate Yeast:
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Mix Dough:
- In a large bowl, combine the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, remaining sugar, salt, and beaten egg. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead Dough:
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
For the Filling:
- Roll Out Dough:
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (approximately 16×20 inches).
- Spread Filling:
- Spread the softened butter over the rolled-out dough. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle it evenly over the butter.
- Roll the Dough:
- Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.
- Cut into Rolls:
- Using a sharp knife or dental floss, cut the log into 12 even rolls.
- Place in Pan:
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake:
